I pity the poor upgrader who has to memorize the names and locations of all those antennas!

Dude, I'm a CAPC and I have no idea what half the antennas on the E-2 are for. I know what a V/UHF and UHF antenna looks like, but don't ask me which one is UHF-1 through 6.. I don't know, I don't care, and it's not relevant to me flying or fighting the plane.

This is one of the things that I like about the VAW community versus HSL/M (and my experience by proxy with VP/VQ in the VTs) Far less sillyness with memorizing shit that don't matter.

Probably goes in the stupid questions thread, but why do the EP-3 bubbas retain the old school 500 lb paint scheme after we went to the all gray on P-3s?

Random pic request:

Does anyone have a decent rez copy of the semi-famous shot of the P-3 flying overhead, taken from underwater? Someone told me it was done by someone snorkeling off the approach end of the runway at Rosey Roads, but that may not actually be correct.

I can't remember if it was taken off of Rosey or Bermuda. I got a print of it back in the early 1980s from a friend in a Jax squadron who was in the same crew as the guy who took it. I posted a scan of it in the constatnly changin picture thread once upon a time but here it is again.

I might have the picture of a P-3 I was allowed to take from a periscope after I was selected for NFO. It's not the best of pictures, but I think its kind of cool from the opposite point of view.
