If there are other serious Christians coming, maybe we could meet, and then be an encouragement to each other during OCS. This is not at all an atempt to create a clique. Anyone who volunteers to be a Marine deserves a tremendous amount of respect and honor.

Not Religous

I am not religous at all. But I don't see the problem with this guy posting and asking to meet up with other Christians. Give the guy a break, whats the harm in what he's doing?

i agree with smiley. find another site to post at

Just because you don't want to read it does not make it inappropriate. You would be surprised how many people find Jesus when times get tough (like at OCS).

No no it's all good... What Riffle meant to say was:

maybe we could meet, and then be an encouragement to each other during OCS... AND go RUN and work on our PFTs before heading to Quantico. OORAH Candidates!
After all, who isn't asking God for sweet mercy toward the end of their 3 miles! And if you're not, run harder! :icon_smil

My mother was a once a nun.... now Im going into the Marines! Is that irony?

With this conversation, brings up a question. Are you allowed to bring religious things into OCS? Like a crucifix necklace? Or scapula (for those who know what it is)?

Oh, whalebite - It might be cliquey, but I would think its the same for asking people in your local area to want to meet up. Its just being able to go to OCS with some similarities and knowing some other people. I think that would be a good thing.

I intend to be suportive of everyone that puts the effort in no matter their religion, or other nonpetenent qualities (if I get in) . But this "If there are other serious Christians coming, maybe we could meet, and then be an encouragement to each other during OCS" sounds exclusive(and indeed it is). aka I'll only support other Christians. Religon has its place, and has its place at OCS (as there is mass) but suporting one group to the exclusion of others based on religon doesn't sound right.

Like Targetinsight said there is no problem with meeting up with others to PT and socialise.

"Religon has its place, and has its place at OCS (as there is mass) but suporting one group to the exclusion of others based on religon doesn't sound right."

-that's quite a broad conclusion to be drawn from:

"If there are other serious Christians coming, maybe we could meet, and then be an encouragement to each other during OCS."

HAHAHA, ya i'm drawing conclusions, but my point is that "maybe Christinas should meet", and not everyone else from that area is unconstructive, I mean you have to work with/train etc with everyone, you can't be uncooperative with others because they maybe of a different religion. We are applying to Marine OCS, not bible school (nothing wrong with bible school) From Full Metal Jacket gives good advise: "You are all equally worthless"
