Well I already had an active security clearance since its been less than a year since I separated and between pro rec and FS all I had left was my PRT and I did that the day after I got Pro rec'd. Maybe that sped up the process for me. Anyways I hope everyone whether BDCP or straight OCS get their FS ASAP. Enlisted once again after being a civilian less than a year and it feels great!!!
Has anyone else had experience waiting for Top Secret clearance? Currently I am a civilian with no security clearance of any kind.
First of all congrats on the pro-rec! Second, if they go through the whole clearance process it could take as much as 6 months, sometimes more. It depends on your past. Some guys at my work have waited over 1.5 years, but i'm sure the military has a slightly higher priority than the civilian contractors. If you're young without many issues with the law, I wouldn't expect it to take more than a few months.
And on another note, i'm officially in the Navy! It feels good
non-select for PAO
my credentials were:
OAR - 54, 6/6/6
College - Double Major in Journalism and Poli. Sci.
GPA - 3.94
Current job - TV reporter (been doing it for last 3 years)
If that's no good, I have no idea what they're looking for.

The Reserve thing just might work out with grad school. Lots of guys go to grad school while in the reserves. As a non prior guy going into the reserves you can not be deployed or recalled for an extended period (ie supporting the war), until you have, I think, 2 years under your belt. If you didn't get picked up for the Reserves the first time around, then you would look that much better after grad school. Relevant work experience and a supporting grad degree is exactly what the direct commission Reserve program was designed for. If you have questions after talking to the Reserve recuiter, PM me.hmmm, interesting advice with the reserves...i'll look into that. but seeing as i didn't get the active duty slot, when my time it up at my current station, about 7 months, i plan on attending grad school, and i don't know if going to grad school and being the reserves could really work out. but i just sent in my information to a reserve recruiter and see what he/she has to say.
