No wait

The only things the guys would miss are warrior day (friends and family get to come to base and see some of the stuff they've been doing at TBS), graduation itself and the chance to get back at their SPC on SPC day. They'll still get to go to their Mess Night.

The Marines who completed IFS before TBS had to make a choice whether they wanted to head out early and miss all the drinking, etc or stay and still report to P'Cola in that next week as planned.

From what I've been told that week they'll be missing is pretty much a wait for graduation so it's not a big deal to miss - my bf is hoping that he'll still be able to get into that june 22 slot even though he's staying for june 7 grad and getting down to FL around june 12th.

I wouldn't want to leave early in hindsight. I didn't leave early, but I would have wanted to if that was an option. You always want to get going to the next step. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have wanted that option. Hang out with your friends that you might not see again for a long, long time....if ever.

But hey, to each their own.

I think it kinda sucks that there is no wait time...it was nice having some time off to have fun after TBS. At least you guys won't have to worry about the constant threat of busy work. There's going to be a lot of Marines coming down here to corpus because there are 5+ per class graduating in the next few weeks.

The wait here at the moment is about 3-5 weeks so I wonder how badly things will clog up. For those who are making their way down, its pretty chill here. The CO doesn't care to hand out stash jobs and LT's don't even have to stand duty. Just don't fook it up by not answering your phone when they call you. Before this week, we were mustering once in the morning but its been bumped up to 2 times a days now because some phones were not answered when called. Anyway, life is good here and i'm sure you will all enjoy it.

I have a Lt in Bravo company and so far he hasn't heard any word, that' he's told me at least, about when he'll be going down. He is a prior flight time, so maybe it would be nice for him to go down early if he was offered that option. His mom was planning on traveling out here for graduation though, we'll see. Bravo Co is in the field this week so I won't hear from him till this weekend, I'm sure they're having a blast in the scorching heat in MOUT town...

MOUT was a good time, the best of the field events in my opinion. He probably is really having a good time. Hard to believe, I know ...

wahoo...definitely counting down the days with Alpha Co! Our calendar has never had so much bold permanent marker around one square date in 10yrs! lol. JUNE 6...ahhhhhh....fast approaching. Oh, FYI, if you left before mess night that's too bad. According to my hub it was the best mess night he's ever been to. Apparently the guest speaker was, General Peter Pace, the principal military advisor to the President, the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council. I'm sure most know his bio...Anyhow, my hub came home and raved about how well of a speech he gave and was impressed by the entire evening.

Hmmm...When it's up to enlisted guys you usually try to schedule some crusty ass SgtMaj so you don't have to be so damn formal and there can be all kinds of shenanigans without it coming to bite you in the ass. Leave it to a bunch of Lt's to schedule the most important Marine in the world. General Pace being in attendance I would think would be quite a buzzkill. I've been to some whacky ass mess nights that you couldn't have if someone like that was around. If only people knew what happened at some mess nights...:icon_smil

au contraire my friend, according to the hub...there were a lot of great fines mostly on the spc's but they were good ones to say the least...apparently, nothing was a buzzkill for that night...everyone all received a coin from General Pace too...pretty sweet. I would love to partake in such an event...but leave it to us spouses to hold our very own mess night...lol. :)

Gen. Pace got there and fun was had by all, Gen. Pace left, fun was had by all. Mess night is what you make of it. The crusty SGTMAJ was actually the buzz kill if anyone.

I stand corrected. The SgtMaj was probably just pissed that he had to hang out with a bunch of cocky Lts!

General Pace came to our Mess Night in Delta '04. He is an awesome man. He called my SPC's mom to inform her that her son appeared to be well-nourished.

My 2 cents if you do get the time is get your books when you get there and try to put in at least 1-2 hours of studying a day. When my group pushed through all of the pilots had to get a 94% avg minimum to stay in the program because we had too many pilots at the time (which is funny because the fleet was then and still is screaming for helo pilots). The average crept up from the standard 80% slowly, but one of the guys currently there could probably tell us what the current requirement is if there is one.
