OK...I just can't stand it anymore...what is the deal with the "42" and "58" jobs I keep seeing at AW? Usually it's regarding a percentage with reference to a question of "what are my chances of..." or something along those lines. So what the heck is the deal with the 42/58 gig? Is it some AW secret squirrel society thing? :D

Borrowed this from another website;) (thanks KBay:)):

So how many G's were too much - dependent on loading, etc - but ballpark? 8?

The article isn't very clear on it, but if they exceeded their sideslip limit they could've either put excessive forces on the airframe or tail (huge tail back there) or during the departure could've experienced asymmetric loading. Maybe it was on the recovery but my guess is that if they departed during a high beta situation then as the plane flipped over something happened there that caused irreparable damage.
