I am a female who has my MEPS physical early Monday morning. Is there anything I should do or not do prior to the physical? I have heard not to eat 12 hours before, and that females have to wear all white. Thanks for any help.

Don't drink alcohol (blood test) or go to a rock concert (hearing).

I've never heard of the not eating for 12 hours before.
They fed us breakfast before we left for MEPS.
I'd recommend drinking lots of water that morning b/c your going to have a pee test.
You'll probably only be in your undergarments for 20 minutes or so while they make sure your back is aligned, bones don't pop out of place when you walk, other major stuff like that.
For what to wear, I've never heard of the white rule either. Just remember your going to be walking in whatever your wear.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

What are the rules regarding piercings? I know you're not supposed to have them in the Navy, but what about for the physical? I've got a tongue piercing... would they ask me to remove it, or should I be fine leaving it in?

Make sure you wear underwear that you won't be ashamed to have people see. My friend wore see-through underwear to her MEPS physical and was a little embarrassed when they grouped all the girls in a room and had them do the agility excercises (including the duck walk) in their underwear.

That is Hullarious Riley!!! I also recommend not drinking coffee or other caffine drinks, b/c of the blood pressure test, your going to be nervious to begin with so you'll already have a hagher blood pressure. I also recommend bringing a book, or something else to read. I was the only one at MEPS to have something, and most people wish they had something to do.

Duckwalk- knees bent all the way, like your squatting with a pack on. The waddle foward, one step at a time.(not a great decription.

Neo/Ben has a good start on describing it. You are in a position that resembles how a lady would squat to pee in the woods. You then have to move from one foot to the other and "walk" to the other side of the room and back again (at least that is how it was when I had to do it). The "walk" requires you to almost completely extend your leg - you end up walking on your heel - it is painful on hard tile floors. ElPensador, it is probably worse than what you imagine.

When I went through we had this one dude, that for the life of him, could not do it. Everyone else was finished and the doc kept having this guy try again - he always fell on his butt - if it wasn't so sad, it would have been funny.

To answer Warlord's question, MEPS is usually located in the Feral Building in whatever large city you reside in or around. I don't know if this is universal, though. Flight physicals are usually at an airbase. You will have to have an interview with a flight doc as part of your physical.

I'll reiterate my question regarding the tongue piercing. Will I have to take it out for the physical, and if so, for how long?

wow..meps must be totally different than at an air base...because everything that was done to me...was in a private room...1 on 1...with each specialist...
