PEP tour anyone?
I know of at least one P-3 PEP guy that resigned from the USN, changed citizenship and joined the RAAF because he liked it there so much.

I also know of a CDR that was there as the 7th Fleet Liason assigned to Perth back in 1988 who turned down CAPT and retired there.

I would hit some ol' lady in the head with a shovel to get a liaison job down there...especially a flying job. NZ too!

God bless the Ozzies, but the kiwi's are a different lot altogether. I'm marrying an Aussie this summer, the Kiwi's since signing the "No Nukes" into law have strained relations w/ us a bit.

But back to the point... when are we kicking extremists out? Oh and Television preachers w/ bad hair and dimples?

Anybody see Tony Blair's speech a couple months back? He said basically the same thing... that if you don't want to be a Brit, than leave. Brit's have certain beliefs and values and that if yours don't match... you can goto the US or somewhere else where no one can offend you. Our politicos are so wrapped up in special interests and stepping on toes, they don't realize they are alienating 90% of their constituants.
Don't forget... 1/2 of every 2/3 statistics are made up.

Went to ASO school with a RAN H-3 pilot. Despite years of training there was no chance of me keeping up with him at the tap!
Then you need more training .... as the Aussies abilities' in the barroom, while certainly considerable, are vastly overrated. A little PR never hurt anyone, yes ??? ;)

How do I know???

My Grandfather was an Aussie .... trust me.

I trained some Aussie LSO's on our ship and frequently went on Lib's with 'em ... one of 'em was even nicknamed "Killer" .... trust me.

They cross-decked me back to the HMAS Melbourne with them and we continued to go on Lib's when able ... trust me.

With the singular exception of my Grandpa ... I was usually the one who carried the boys back from the bar to the brow.

Trust me ...

The U.S. version

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America.

Our population is almost entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity.

As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.

If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from.

This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But, once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

Well, you can never be too trained so I keep working at it ! Somehow the Aussie links with you don't suprise me. Of course for us old guys (and not so old) the lime is medicinal, keeps the scurvy away :) Other side effects are simply a benny.
