Maybe i missed this earlier, but this statement says you've already been there and you know what it is like. If the Batallion XO said he will make sure you never come back, take heed... He probably means it and he said it to motivate you to be more conscious of your body...

It is your decision, weigh the pros and cons

I also got ripped by the Commander doctor too, so I don't want them to go 'oh candidate x I remember you were walking on your broken angkle last year... back here again what are you here for this time? oh your thumb doesen't work? oh you broke it before and still came here knowing it wasnt good? wtf is your problem candidate, your never coming back again'

and PLC-C air contract is possible... or you could extend your grad date and do plc jr/sr, but i dunno if id do that one...

With the price of tuition and how it gets more expensive every year? Yeah right...

Skiing over spring break.

I broke it doing the same thing at the same resort on the same run in the same spot as I did 5 years ago.

I've been skiing my whole life, used to live west coast, I'm damn good (whole family is). I was at Snowbird, last run of the day, doing this drop that is nothing compared to what I've done before. So its the last run of the day and I'd done this drop plenty of times. I'm just like... whatever, going all out no control whatever happens happens... next thing I know my goggles are broken from hitting the grip on my ski pole and my thumb feels the exact same way as it did years before. I thought I got knocked out because when I broke my goggles I thought I hit a rock. I just got up, finished the run, drove down the canyon to the hospital, and found out I not only broke it but tore the inside of it (tendon / ligament thing).

Normally I'd be like hell yeah that was a good time, broken bones are fun etc etc... not this time :icon_rage

Go get an X-ray and find out if its actually broken. About two months ago I kicked the hell out of a table in the dark and my 3 toes turned blue and hurt like they were broke, 2 weeks later they were fine. There is still enough time to rehab and heal if its not that bad an injury and you get it looked at now. If it is broke dont try to "make it through." If something like this happened half way into OCS with a decent score on the O-course and a couple other events already on the books you might be able to fight and stay. However showing up to OCS with an injury like this your going to slow down and drag people with you. Think about it LRC, SULE, SULE II all those wierd obstacles and such your gonna need your hands to even attempt much less succeed at and not only will you piss away your own score on those events but you'll buddy f*ck your fireteam because you couldnt perform and they had to deal with it. Your a safety hazard at best on the Tarzan and Confidence course with something like a broken thumb. In the end that will come back to haunt you when your standing in front of the Man getting NPQ'd and hes deciding whether or not to let you come back. If you couldnt honestly tell yourself "Im broke and I need to wait and come into this full ready" what buisness would you have with the well being of men under your command.

I got it x-rayed after I broke it, thats how they knew it was broken.

I got it x-rayed a couple days ago, and the bone is healing fine but the tendon isn't, thats why I don't have good grip and why the general ortho wants me to see a surgeon.

Points well taken on every thing else.

Thanks for everyones responses, my view on what could go wrong is much more informed now being that I didn't have the opportunity to go through all of the courses... I'm better equipped to make a decision on what I am going to do this summer now.
