Has anyone seen "before" pictures? Regardless, there are always outliers but a thin chick has a much better chance at staying thin than a "thick" chick has of getting thinner as time goes on.

I think the kid in the orange is a boy. The little girl is the one in the pink top. (I had to do a double take too. Long hair was throwing me off.)
