Feet/Shin Problems?

I recently bought a $100 pair of custom orthodics to help with shin splints and running pain and it did absolutely nothing to help....I just bought a couple pair of Ironman Performance Gel insoles for the hell of it and I have had no pain at all after running and walking around all day (first time in awhile)...I got them for $4.95...so if your having any troubles, you might want to give them a try.

Know your pain man, I have plantar fasciitis and it sucks. Had it since OCT and can't make it go away.

Make sure you get a good stetch on your achilles tendon. One of the primary causes of shin splints is poor achilles flexability. Also there are specific training tape methods to combat plantar fasciitis.

Take care of your feet, without them you go no further.

Best thing to do is get yourself to a "real" running store where someone can watch you walk and tell you what kind of shoe/orthotics to buy. Foot Locker is not a "real" running store.

Or go see Doc Fare over in Ricketts Hall. He molded me some custom orthodics in about 10 minutes. Problem solved.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS or ASICS 2120 for moderate overpronators
Brooks Beast if you have no arch at all

Running shoes make all the difference in the world - replace regularly, esp. if you are a bigger guy.

IMO, wouldn't go with Nikes unless you have good arches, have had bad experience with Mizuno (after a "good" running shoe store recommended them

Runners World Automatic Shoe Finder

Brooks has a "shoe finder" on their website too which is really helpful. I have had really good luck with this manufacturer.
