A friend of mine is submitting his OCS package as a reservist for the IDC board. Do reservist fall into street or fleet applicants? Thank you!

The fleet applicant tag only applies to those on active duty, I have seen several reservist picked up IDC, they were all "CT's" of some type.

I will be submitting for Intel and had a few questions...

1) Are they selecting candidates to fill both FY13 and FY14 spots?
2) I have heard rumors that this is probably the best IDC board to apply for, 1830 wise. Has anyone else heard that or can confirm?
3) Is it required that I include a copy of my SF-86?
4) If selected, how long till I would leave for OCS?
5) I have an interview from an O-5 IWO so should I apply for INTEL & IW or just INTEL since all my other LORs and Interviews are all INTEL specific?

Applying for: INTEL

6 years active duty - USN Intelligence Specialist (E-6/IS1)

OAR: 50
GPA: 3.94 from American Military University - Intelligence Studies/Intelligence Analysis
LORs: 1 O-6 (Prior Intel Community Manager), 3 O-5 (One was my prior CO, so I actually have 2 CO endorsements)
Interviews: 1 O-6, 2 O-5, 2 O-4 (10/10 on all)
* All LORs and Interviews are very strong!

My Evals are all 3.8-4.2 avg MP/EP except for a "new guy" P. I have LPO at sea under my belt and tons of leadership. I also have a lot of command involvement and big collateral duties.

This is my first time applying for OCS. I'm hoping I have a good chance at getting picked up! The only negative thing I can think of on my package is that I had a NJP my first 3 months in the Navy, but I'm hoping that being 6 years ago the board will pretty much throw that out the window and it won't hurt me. Thank you for your help. I wish everyone the best of luck and who knows, maybe we will end up at OCS together. ;)

NavyIntel, I'm in a similar situation when it comes to OCS. Also AD (ET2 8 yrs.) I have submitted my first (hopefully only) OCS package for the upcoming IDC and SWO-IDC board set to convene 4 March 2013. Your stats look good. Considering you are currenlty an IS which falls under the IDC community, I think you have a great shot of getting selected. Do you have your EIDWS Warfare pin? Having spoken to the IP OCM, Captain Darenkamp Bupers-317, having your EIDWS Warfare pin will moreso increase your chances of getting selected especially being from the enlisted side of Information Dominance. To give you amplifying infromation, board doesn't want to see your SF-86, they want to see your JPAS printout (personnel summary only). At this point, I would be happy get selected in any designator within the IDC Community. I have Apprasial Sheets from one 1810/IW, two 1820's IP, two SWO 1110, one 2505, (don't ask lol) one 3100, and one 6422, but I'm sure if someone "cuts the mustard" and the IDC community is interested in what you have to offer, they may be willing select a candidate for Intel or perhaps the SWO-IDC community. You have three choices of desired community/designator on your 1420.1B application, I would definitly fill all those blanks in IDC designators if I were in your shoes. LOR's are not required for AD guys like us. Can be submitted but not required. LOR's are for the civilian applicants with degrees attempting to commission as an Officer. NAVCRUIT 1131/5 (REV 05-2011) Interveiwer's Appraisal Sheet is what us AD guys should to be using. Once OCS package is complete, follow this order of paperwork for faster processing:

1. Applications page 1 of 1420.1B
2. ASTB scores
3. JPAS printout (personnel summary only)
4. Applications pgs 2-10 and 14. Do not put the CO's endorsement pg's 9 and 10 at the beginning of the application. Put in order. Example: page 1, ASTB scores, JPAS printout pages
2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,14
5. Interviews (Apprasial sheets)
6. Evaluations (single pages no back to back)
7. Transcripts (copies or originals are accepted if sent via email) )(PDF format ONLY not to exceed 10MB emailed to cnrc_officerapps@navy.mil Fleet processor Ted Williams)
8. Awards
9. Recommendations
10. Anthropometric Measurements (if applicable)
11. Nuclear Drug form/security form (NUC programs only)
12. Last 3 PRIMS printouts
13. SMART transcripts (printed from computer - all three sections)
14. Extra Misc. forms (example emailed age-waiver from OCM)
15. Copy of Birth Certificate
16. DD forms 2808 and 2807-1 and EKG w/Interpretation and blood work to include HIV results (under 2 years old)

Good luck, I hope this helps

FYI, it always helps to put in for designators that are open.
True indeed, I completely agree with you on that comment. I have a few questions concerning selection and quotas. A previous blog of yours stated that Intel goal of 18, 18 identified CLOSED FY13 (this clears the backlog). For clarity and understanding, can you explain in further detail what "identified" means regarding the process to OCS. For example, are these final selects for FY13? Also referring to the "clearing of the backlog," is the upcoming 04 March 2013 IDC board looking to fulfill 50% or more it's FY14 quotas within the Intel/1830 designator since the previous backlog is now clear? If so, do you have any gouge on those specific numbers? Thank you in advance NavyOffRec.

good numbers don't usually come out until the FY has already started, so they estimate which is why they limit the number of pro y's to about 50%, especially when IDC has seen a fairly steady decline.

I would say you are looking at single digits, but like I have said in other post the IDC board has gone rogue before which resulted in a 2 year OCS wait for some people.

Like I would tell non priors, if you really want to be an officer make sure one of your choices is SWO if eligible.

Good gouge, and wish you the best of luck!

I do not have my EIDWS as of right now, but it will be completed prior to the board and I'll be sending in an addendum. Where did you get the order for submitting your package? I was given different gouge... :( I have also been told that quotas are much higher than single digits. One of the CAPTs I work with spoke with the INTEL-CM and they said 50... At this point, I don't know what to believe.

NOR, do you agree with the above order? The reason I'm asking, the order stated in the 1420.1B seems to be incorrect then.

NavyIntel, I was forwarded this inforation directly from the OCS Fleet Processor, Mr. Ted Williams. He is the indivdual who handles all OCS packages verifying completeness prior to the the OCM getting a hold of them. Think of him as the "quality and control" guy for Fleet Applicants such as ourselves. If you send me and inbox with your email address, I can send you the word document I recieved from Mr. Williams. Trust and believe, I have become very knowledgeable with the 1420.1B line item by line item. In fact, your addendum will also be sent to the same POC. Best of luck to you as well.

The CM is going to deal with numbers from ALL sources, not just OCS, INTEL has never in recent history had anywhere near 50 OCS spots.

NOR, when you say "ALL sources" are you referring to other IDC designators or to other Commissioning Programs such as STA-21, NROTC, and LDO to fulfill and meet the desired quotas? mention

given the overall numbers that I have seen before I would say yes to other commissioning sources, with the exception to LDO

I e-mailed my OR the last of my application paperwork two weeks ago, with a couple last minute questions in there also. After not receiving an acknowledgement, I re-sent it Monday with a "just making sure this went through" header at the top. Haven't heard back. Haven't bothered calling because, from experience, nobody answers the phone normally.
Should I just assume everything's alright and the OR is really busy?

No, Don't assume anything. You need confirmation. Deadline for Febuary 4th 2013 IDC board is January 7th 2013. I would hag and hassle until I was giving confirmation that the paper was received and included into my package. At the end of the day, no one is going to look after you better than you can. Simply advice.
