Dry Eye

Is dry eye, or Keratoconjunctivitis sicca, considered disqualifying?

What about dry eye prior to prk? Would the Navy allow someone who had pre-existing dry eye to have prk done?

The waiver guide doesn't address dry eye, so is it not an issue?

Thanks.

When I was looking into PRK, my ophthalmologist told me that he would not perform the operation on someone with dry eyes. I don't know about the waivers or anything else, this was just my personal experience FWIW.

OVER THE LINE!
^^^ I was told the same thing by my doc. All you can do is ask, I'm sure it's on a case by case basis. PRK does dry your eyes out for a considerable amount of time post-op (at least it did mine), so if you have problems with it going in to the surgery, I can only imagine how bad it would be after....just something to think about. The only opinion that matters is the doc's though.
