NavyOffRec: Are applicants ever selected for their third option? I applied to SNA/NFO/SWO. I understand my numbers "fit" better in the SWO community than the aviation community.
Thanks for the response!when it comes to Pilot/NFO/SWO they will pick a person whatever the order of preference.
Thanks for the response!
I find it odd that my recruiter frowned against me placing SWO as my first choice. He said I had a better shot at aviation (for some unapparent reason).
The latest message coming from NRC is that third program choices are rarely considered, especially if they're SWO, so your best bet might be with Pilot/NFO
Before finding out I was NPQ'd for Pilot for depth perception my OR was telling me that he was not able to add SWO to a Pilot/NFO packet as a third choice anymore due to wasting the board's time. I had to request it be put on after I was limited to NFO, as I didn't want to wait for another board to add SWO if that is how it shakes out.
Looking at your stats he was probably sure you would be picked up Pilot, I would think the same thing but he probably could have phrased it better.
I see what you are saying but the way he put it made me think that it was direction he was receiving from the NRD in general.
I find it odd as well. Your best shot is for SWO, as your low ASTB scores make it a long shot for aviation.I find it odd that my recruiter frowned against me placing SWO as my first choice. He said I had a better shot at aviation (for some unapparent reason).
I already plan on retaking and resubmitting. Question: why would my OR push me to submit my package in the first place if it's non-competitive?
