Fear not, there’s a plan!! They’re going to send masks to Every. Single. Household. With ideas like this, we’re bound to win eventually!! The government has obviously had top men working on it!!
You know what is sad? If everyone wore an N95 mask around everyone else (including at home) the pandemic would essentially be over in the USA within 4-6 weeks. Without lockdowns. Just high quality masks. Down to contact tracing levels. It's Physics 101.

But we're too stupid and selfish to suck it up and win. Instead we'll have many more months of listening to your whining about how masks interfere with "muh freedoms"

Awww. It’s cute to hear you keep talking about “winning”. No one is winning here, except the government, who’s trying to control literally every aspect of your life. We’ve all lost; those of us that see that don’t have wool over our eyes anymore.

It’s awesome that you’ve cracked the code though! Have you called the White House and offered your expertise? I’m SURE they’ll listen to you due to your scientific background AND vast command experience in the naval reserve.

P.S. still no comment about why the President is ignoring his CDC Director and siding with the teachers’ unions on school reopening? Maybe you can address that with him during your phone call.

That’s absolute unscientific baloney and you know it. You realize hospital patients (without COVID) have caught COVID through air ducts, right?

Your comment is a classic response you’d see from a toxic leadership culture - blame the troops (citizens) for “not following rule ABC exactly to my instructions” rather than look in the mirror and achnowledge the difficult truths about this virus.

So it was transmitted through the air?

Masks would block it.

The virus goes from one person's mouth to another through the air. You intercept that transmission, you stop the spread. N95 masks do that. It is that simple.

Really?

Toxic leadership culture is undermining your own messaging, to include the messaging of your own experts, and modeling the behavior that leads to further spread of the virus. It is a failure to level with your people and tell them the hard news, and a failure to ask of them the hard sacrifice needed to win.

The truth about the virus is that its spread can be controlled. Proof of that is a bunch of countries that have successfully controlled it. We know how to do it, because we know how they did it.

You're a naval officer, where are you leading on this? Supporting the winning strategy or the losing one?

Somewhere, probably in Norfolk, there is a Master Chief with this stupid fucking memo printed up in his (tight) Type-3 NWU pocket waiting to hem up an officer between the parking lot and the ship...

This is the very first thing that came to my mind when I read it

You keep talking about this “winning” strategy. President Biden is ignoring his CDC Director. Is that a part of “winning”? He pledged to follow the science. Is ignoring the experts following the science? Is that part of a winning strategy?

As far as your insinuations about the Navy and leading, please stop. When’s the last time you were on active duty? When’s the last time you’ve been around people who were on active duty? Have you been aboard installations and ships since covid started? Have you talked to sailors and officers about their morale? About how their families are doing? About how THEY’RE doing with all of this?

You’re obviously entitled to your thoughts and opinions, but you just sound outdated and out of touch.

You're in Houston area, right? Japan lost 70 people in a day. Harris County lost 54.

Just the city of Houston lost almost as many people as an entire country.

Texas definitely does not have a winning strategy.

Were Japanese people wearing N95s at home?

Or, and maybe this is a hypothetical, could it be that they generally have a lower BMI, better diet, active lifestyle, and are predisposed to less issues with the novel coronavirus due to previous exposure to Coronaviruses that float around Asia?

nah. Fuck all that. They must be wearing masks to bed at night.

I keep hearing about your winning strategy without any actual, ya know, strategy. Put up or shut up.

I assume you've passed it along to our alleged-rapist, hair smelling, creepy old man rapid fire executive order signer-in- chief? Is that where we are getting such groundbreaking guidance of 'wEaR mOaR mAsKs!' or was it the part where he would get the same number of shots in arms as his predecessor? Or was it just dropping the cycle threshold so 'cases' would go down?

I hope we don’t wind up with some atrocious figure over 1700 deaths per million like some pee-in-the-pool states like, say, Pennsylvania

It's not my winning strategy, its theirs. New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, and Norway have all done it differently, but all of them are orders of magnitude better than us. Pick one. Pick the best attributes of each and combine them.

The big problem is people accepting losing 450,000 people (so far) as the best we can do. It isn't even close. And letting the virus keep circulating hasn't helped our economy either. We should demand more from leadership.

Food for thought.
