color vision test....

Any of you Marine aviators ever have to take the light test for color blindness on any of your military physicals? MEPS? Initial flight physical? Or were you just given the number in the dots test? I know I have asked previously about cv testing for my cousin, and he just bombed the falant light test. He's pretty upset because there are no waivers I guess. So there goes our chance of going to flight school together.

not a marine, but us navy folks go through the same flight physicals. Prior to getting to API (the flight phys for the program) I had to do the number test... in NOMI I had to do the light test.

Is there any eye test different than what you do at MEPS?

I would be careful with MEPS and eye exams- color, depth, etc...I know some LT who failed the MEPS eye exam but passed the flight. eye exam. The MEPS eye portion of the physical is a joke- and if it were me- I would go see a civilian eye doctor to make sure I really did have a problem- and if at all possible the flight surgeon too.

Yes, definitely go for a second opinion. They thought something with my eyes was jacked up at MEPS and gave me a referral the same day to go out to a civilian specialist. They called a cab and off I went to be diagnosed with no problem. They stamped and initialed the civilian's form and I have never had a problem since.

The form is actually still in my medical record now as I look at it.

Any of you guys never done the 3-light test? I thought that was only a secondary option if you fail the plate tests.

The light test IS just a secondary option if you fail the number test, but if you get a retard at MEPS like I did, you will ace both of them. He didnt realize untill after I had already done both that you didnt need to do the light test if you pass the number test. The Flight One Physical number cards are a lot easier than the MEPS cards.
