Alright after reading this thread and seeing everyone, I had to jump in too. I read the first few posts. Not gonna lie, you sound like a guy who thinks the world of himself and that you're better than everyone else, that you are the God's gift to the Navy in terms of aviation and that since you speak french, or at least play the part, that you are oprah tits. *Yes oprah tits*

I would highly suggest taking the advice of everyone on this board and just deleting the blog while you have the chance so that it becomes a non-factor. If you had any idea how fast shit like this can spread around ALL of NAVAIR, you would shit your pants. Not just NAVAIR, but other branches of the military as well, since we don't just train Navy guys down there obviously.

I spent my first summer in Pcola on Pensacola Beach in a condo where we threw a MASSIVE 4th of July party ('Murrica - among other parties as well) with all our OCS buds and new found Academy (you read that right) and ROTC friends and some "ladies of the night" that they had met at Seville and brought too. Oh and those ladies brought their hot trick ass friends as well. We spent that day (and many others like it) making drinks, blasting music from our condo while the Blue Angels flew in the airshow and we watched from our balcony on the water. You'll have the rest of your life to save money and frugal....I mean good on ya for wanting to do it. But seriously, you're about to embark upon a journey you can't even fathom.

And no, IFS is not hard and it doesn't count. That's a cake walk. Spend your money now, Take C420's advice from his rule #1, also everyone else's about your blog, go find a fatty condo on perdido or pcola beach and enjoy the summer and your time in Pensacola.

Or continue being that guy that will probably be ostracized by your respective ready room because of this blog and your attitude towards mostly anyone who's academy or rotc or has WAY more fun at life than you do. Hope you don't go tailhook.....wouldn't want you to attend the actual Tailhook and write a blog about how lame everyone is, and how everyone drinks too much at the flight suit mixer.

And just to reattack, on the off chance that the OP is reading all these inputs:

I don't care that you're not a party hound or that you're a cheapass. That's your choice. Nor do I care that you're arrogant and clueless - that's the natural state of most SNAs, and most of us are, I believe, justifiably embarassed at how arrogant and clueless we were when we first strapped on our flyin' boots.

Your mistake is in not realizing how small and connected this business is. I invite you to imagine meeting your new XO or sitting down with an IP in the TRACOM and beginning the discussion with them saying, "Oh wait...are you that asshole with the blog?"

Reputation will always preceed you in Naval Aviation...always. Don't believe me? Ask how many folks around here have sat down with a CO/XO at a new command and been greeted with "Oh, are you so-and-so on AirWarriors?" Search and read about the Lead Ensign and Princess Melanie viral email sagas. When I got out and interviewed for a job within the industry, there were a dozen familiar faces from the Fleet in the office - you think maybe the Company asked if any of them knew this Fester guy? (maybe not...I did get hired, after all) A phone call will preceed you to every command you get orders to. Your reputation is your currency in this job. So stomping on your crank before you're even out of the gate is not an auspicious start.

So believe us or don't, but don't say you weren't warned.

I will say I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with what you're doing - plenty of people have had the same idea, although most have found they didn't have the time to commit to following through on it. And some of the gouge sites out there have been pretty helpful to a lot of people, especially during primary. But the attitude you do it with makes a difference. And, like others have said, while being a party hound isn't a prereq for this profession, making fun of those who are is not going to make you any friends. Same for the Academy thing.

Basically, having a blog about your flight school experience doesn't HAVE to destroy your reputation, but it's far more likely to do that than it is to help it. Especially if you continue in the style you've started with.

You should also probably just stop with the Academy hate. Also, did I read this right or are you belittling Academy "bros" because they got drunk and hooked up with a bachelorette party? You sound like a ton of fun and are probably "that guy."

Very possible that Supt. USNA & Staff has, or soon will have access to this blog. They won't be amused. Could be problematical for OP's 'just lifting off'' aviation career. The internet is great, but choose your posted words wisely, for they may return to bite you. No one has guaranteed anonymity on a public website!

Oh yeah, and in your story about the "Academy bros," I kept expecting some gay stuff to happen or something...but it sounds like they went out in Pensacola like 98% of Student Naval Aviators do, had a good time, and met attractive members of the opposite sex. So why did that make your soul weep? Very confused by that anecdote.

Being "known" is a double edged sword.

I had some some DH/XO/CO types have bad preconceived notions of me. I also had some of the same type grant me certain leeway to do things, as they saw what I did/tried to do, and were glad to have me there.

I found and read the Princess Melanie email, but I couldn't find the Lead Ensign email after searching AW and Google. Could someone please post a link for it? Thank you.

It's in the Private forum. If the mods wish to share it with the unwinged masses, it's up to them.

Suffice to say, a young go-getter stashed in P'cola decided to regale his former ROTC unit with an email describing how important and hard-working he was now that he was all growed up. It quickly went viral from there and circled the world at least twice before it got back to NASC.
