I think they were trying to incorporate some USMC elements into the design: bloodstripes, crimson belts etc.

Correct. That's what they said during the game. The red was for the USMC. Although I think that the uniform would have looked better without it.

that was an awesome cross country!! free club seats on the 50 yard line, sneaking into the mid section with friends and ending up on the railing in the end zone and on tv, some great flying, and a good cheesesteak to top it off. doesn't get any better than this.
