My bro is in af rotc and he mentioned that to me the other day. I'm pretty sure the navy and air force conduct their own research, but hopefully the navy will allow lasik soon. From what I've heard lasik is a newer surgery that takes less time to recover from. correct me if I'm wrong...

Lasik may be newer and less recovery time... but from what I understand it can play with your night vision.

My mom had it and has problems seeing at night now.

I'm getting PRK'd late this yr

I think the worry about lasik is that it is possible that the flap of the cornea that is cut and lifted for the laser to work is still attached and is then able to 'dislodge' if rubbed wrong, unlike PRK which removes the flap entirely. That is what my optometrist told me anyways.
