I guess which ones are able to make it through the ringer there. Durability and what not, could care less on looks.
You probably don't need to go full g shock. I've run my $10 CASIO through the mud and it still wakes me up every morning.

Edit: Haven't been to OCS yet but it's what I plan on taking.
I got a G-shock, but there were plenty of people who had cheap watches that made it just fine.

My birthday is this week and I was thinking of getting one for myself, but I know it's not necessary.

Really want one of the full aviation ones with compass altitude and all the bells and whistles.

I wouldn't get a super fancy one for OCS, just in case. I mean, my G-shock is still in great condition post-OCS. Not a scratch. But you never know how many times you'll end up playing in the sandbox while you're there. I'd get a cheap one now and buy the aviation one later.

I had a question regarding OHARP. We are suppose to gaduate is so close to Christmas (Dec 14th), does anyone know the chances of getting OHARP? (My designator is Supply)

FWIW, I'm on my 4th G-Shock watch in my lifetime and that's only because my third one had the gasket butchered by someone who didn't know what they were doing when changing the battery. Sand isn't going to do anything to it. I liked having a G-Shock on the boat because the extra face protection was nice since I ended up always banging my watch into a door frame or door.

I've said this before in the other thread, but I'd go with one that has GMT on it, especially if you're an aviator. The rest of the functions are superfluous and just a way to up-sell (except maybe the compass).

I want one for sure. I was just saying that it's not necessary to get one for OCS.

Nice tip about the GMT stuff.

Supply people don't typically get OHARP since your school is across the street from OCS.

And what is that exactly?
Ever seen Inception? It’s basically limbo. It’s where you go when you’re past graduation but not yet commissioned due to delayed orders, security clearance issues, NPQ, etc. You stay on base at Newport and do admin type work until you’re good to go. You also go here for a few weeks if you DOR while they take care of your separation paperwork.
