NATO strap as I wore out the metal one so went with the official RAF one.

    Random Griz Aviation Musings

One club I'm in is Tach and one is Hobbs. Flew this yesterday for a 2.3 Hobbes and 1.8 tach (@ $170/hour on the tach) but I had slow flight, stalls and a couple approaches in there to play with the new panel so a lot of time at less than rental power. Both models work fine.

    OV-10 Bronco

When I went through VT-86 in 88 I ended up getting winged with several OV-10 USMC Captains that were there in abbreviated syllabus to transition their wings from Aerial Observer to NFO and back to the OV-10.

During a port call in Trinidad on TR circa 1990 met the Naval Liaison for the entire Caribbean . He had a C-12 he flew (A-7 guy) and they sent his wife to flight safety too so she could be SIC..... Yea, I'm never "that guy"

    Random Griz Aviation Musings

Same @ Whidbey. If I'd agreed to another tour at NAVAIRES, which I was already cutting short to go to VAQ-209, they waived flight safety at me. I'm still torn but like all things Navy, I'm sure I would have been screwed out of it.

Yep, Tamiya 1/48" kit. My process? Open box, build plane. ;) I did use the Eudard woven seatbelts that were very neat to work with. As usual, and just like years ago, I always find stuff I could have done better but the on-line resources are amazing these days both videos for techniques and...

    Which watch?

Yep- Took them from Jan to June to do it with them being shut down and 1 AMU but worth it. I have one other one with a metal band that is worn out and I know the band alone will be expensive. Looking for someplace other than Omega to send it to. I'd rather spend the money flying.
  11. Pugs

    Which watch?

Finally back from Omega after a substantial amount of work. That's what happens when you wear it for 20 years and never do anything to it. And in it's natural habitat.

Got 1.7 of IFR out of a 3 hour flight with an actual RNAV in the 182 a couple weeks ago. Nice to use the IFR ticket occasionally as its meant to be used.

    Navy FACs in 'Nam?

If we're talking the definition of a FAC being the directing of weapons from airborne in direct support of troops by other aircraft as a formalized role I suspect you are right - See my note on the other board. I will also reach out to Barrett Tillman and that crowd. Good article here that...

    Navy FACs in 'Nam?

Yes, I understand most of the old folks with context of Naval Air history were driven away from here. I've of course reached out to Rick Morgan as well - http://www.rickmorganbooks.com/index.html. Rick was my mission commander first tour and well regarded historian and Naval Air author.

    Sidearms for Naval Aviators

I'm old but not that old. Desert Storm the Naval Air sidearm was crap. Our issued weapon was a 5 shot .38 S&W snubbie. The vast majority of us carried our own. I carried a Browning Hi-Power, my pilot carried a Glock 9 and the other two carried the issue weapon. Of course our new jg wouldn't...

Very different games. http://www.nssf.org/shooting/sports/shotgun.cfm Most guns that work fine for Skeet will work fine for sporting clays with the addition of some screw in choke tubes. Shotgun Advice

IMO there is no need for a 12 gauge at skeet and very little in the upland field. I've shot most of my pheasants over the pup in the last decade with a 28 or 20 gauge. When I shot skeet hard core I shot 1 oz loads in the 12 gauge.

Briley http://www.briley.com/companiondrop-intubesets.aspx makes any gauge of tube sets and I have all three gauges (20, 28, .410) for my beretta but unless you're going to shoot registered skeet there's no need to go that way. While 28 gauge is my favorite (and the only one I ever hit 400...

    Shotgun Advice

Has she shot a lot of over/unders? I would certainly consider a good gas operated semi-auto to reduce felt recoil. In addition, for trap and skeet you have no need for different chokes on sequential shots so a single barrel gun is fine. That being said, if she is set on an over/under I would...
