Yeah, I can't count the number of times me and the boys were hanging at the bar and one of us really needed to answer that burning NATOPS QOD. Although I'm a jet guy...maybe you're destined for P-3 land.

Clearly you've been away from Primary Flight training for too long and forget the reality that the only thing to talk about at the bars is... Primary Flight training.

Disagree...

From a constructive criticism standpoint: it took all of five minutes and zero dollars to load the pubs from the CD we got issued from TRAWING 5 onto my Kindle. There's tons of EP/Limits quizzes on (free) quizlet as well. While it may be nice to have all that stuff in one spot, charging $5 seems ambitious. Then again, according to the reviews this app could have gotten me jets, so YMMV.

Well good luck keeping it updated, especially when you're done with Primary and don't have access to all the FTIs and NATOPs anymore.

Are you gonna give everyone their money back at that point?

The Air Force version for the T-6A right next to it charged $9.99 ;). Nobody is being forced to purchase the app and anyone could choose to save $4.99 and do the exact same thing that you did.

All information in the app is public information that anyone with an internet connection could find for themselves. All I did was organize it into an app that you can download onto your iPhone, which most people generally carry with them everywhere. Like I said... I'll make every effort to keep it updated and accurate, but since I haven't explicitly stated it in any of my previous posts: THIS IS GOUGE. The concept of "Live by the gouge, die by the gouge" applies, hence the disclaimer on the main menu of the application. Think of the app as a "quizlet" that you download through the App store for $4.99.

I'm not sure I quite understand the reasoning behind the hostility... not a single student is being forced to spend $4.99 in order to have all of this free and publicly available information on your iPhone. But, it's there if you want it.

Exactly. You...a student..."organized" a bunch of gouge and put it up for sale as an app for $4.99

If you don't see the irony in that then all hope for you may be lost. What a fucking shit show...I wouldn't pay that much for an app if CNATRA himself put the damn thing together.

Why don't you get off your high horse and take some corrective criticism? It's an overpriced shit product that you feel is worth $5...I'm here to tell you friend that it's not.

Seriously though, there aren't ANY legal implications for selling Navy training manuals?

I haven't looked at the app. But if it was the freely available pubs that he is now selling in his capacity as a Naval Officer, well... Wanna make a guess if that's kosher or not? ;)

If it was independently created study aids then it's a different story.

In all seriousness t6b did you get legal advice before marketing this?

Dude sent me a PM...apparently CNATRA JAG bought off on it, so he claims to be legit.

I wonder how many man hours are spent creating study aids that could be spent actually studying.

Yes, I sent you a private copy of the legal advice that I received prior to the development and release.

As one of his instructors, I can tell you that yes it is all legit and he has received the legal and CNATRA go ahead. How he has managed to develop an ap and still be an extremely good flight student is beyond me. wlawr05 you should quit giving him shit and come to terms with the fact that he will be flying off your wing in the future.

Sorry man, I think it's a waste of time. Personal opinion only.

I also think anybody who uses such an app is missing out on the good ole fun in digging through a NATOPS. That kind of stuff will prove to be useful later on when there's more to know than what's in that manual alone, especially when most of it is classified.

But by all means, if the instructor cadre has bought off on it then be it far from me to hate.
