Just finished up my package as well. I turned it in and I am ready for the long waiting game. Internal and External Board went really well. I feel I have a much stronger package this year than last year. I re-did my personal statement and took away the normal spill about why I want to be an officer and basically said who I am and how I will be a great officer. My letter was a bit more personal this year.
My internal Board was quite unique. The questions that were posed on me were a bit unusual, only later to find out that the board was trying to see how I think on my feet. I went in there with an open mind and said what I knew what was right. It was not my intent to impress the board members, but it went very well to say the least.
My external board were composed of 1 CDR, CAPT (Sel), and CAPT and chaired by a COL (Marines). Talk about a hard crowd. Again I went in there with the same mindset; not to impress but to share who I am and how I perceive things. I honestly knew if my interviews only showed a character they wanted to see, I would have probably lived out my whole naval career trying to emulate that particular persona. So with an honest attitude, I went into my board ready for anything. Thankfully that board went very well!
Now that I completed my package, no time to sit around and cross my fingers. I got a lot of other things to do in regards to the job at hand. Will keep looking at these posts from time to time though.
