I scanned through the other posts and it seems no one has really touched on housing in Pensacola recently. I am a single SNA transferring to P'cola mid July and want something preferably near downtown and the beach. I have a 95lb (75 for lease purposes haha) Great Pyrenees/lab mix. My BAH is around $1116 so I have plenty of wiggle room. Anyone have any good input of places to live?

I have been looking at Crestview @ Oakleigh and Angel Cove. I am pretty open to anything but plan on living alone at first in a 2-bedroom apt/house.

Are you planning to go to Whiting after? I just mention it because Crestview is a pretty decent trek to base each day. Driving anywhere takes forever in Pensacola and I was very happy to live right outside the back gate during my time there.

Not too sure about pet friendly places but a stop by/call to the housing office onboard NAS P-Cola might get you some references.

East Hill... There's a dog park there. Close to downtown and w/in 40 mins of whiting. Also there was a house in Pcola that was listed on this site recently, pet friendly landlord. Mid way between town and whiting,
Food for tought.

I would assume I'm going to corpus, it's hard to tell drive time by just lookin at the map. Thanks for the input. I have definitely been mulling the perdido key area as well.

The Easthill area is awesome and there used to be a fantastic vet in the old hospital too. The beach by the dog park had Saturday morning dog meet ups too. Check it out...

I would like to go to whiting however just for the connivence of not having to move to another state, granted the navy could care less how I feel about that haha

As a single person (and someone who probably doesn't have a whole lot to move), I'd live close to NASP for your time in A-Pool/API. You may not go to Primary for a long time due to the influx of grads from the Academy and ROTC. Also, living near the back gate is a good option as it will most likely put you outside the 35 miles should you have to break your lease and go to Whiting.

Governor's Gate is dog-friendly and is sorta the halfway point between NASP and NASWF. I'd personally say live down in Perdido and then move.

Another plug for East Hill. walking distance to downtown/bars, 10 minutes from Pcola Beach, dog park, cheap rentals, and easy access to 110.

I lived just out the back gate for API and IFS. 5 minute commute to the API building which was real nice for the two months of A Pool muster. It's over 35 miles away from Whiting so no problem to get out of my lease. I just recently moved to Governors Gate, I live with one other pilot and a FO. About 30-40 mins to Whiting depending on the time of day and 25 mins to NASP. Great central location, close to UWF...if you catch my drift, plenty of shopping and restaurants around and there is actually a freeway nearby. You will know what I mean if you live in Perdido. I am very happy with the move, there was no way I was living in Milton.

East hill.....google kind of gives me assorted answers, do you have a link or are they condos/townhouses for rent by owner?

Anyone have any insight on Angel Cove, Cypress Ridge or Crystal Lake?

If you are older, the "half your age plus seven" rule is only for long term relationships. Just here to help...

I have a lease I am preparing to sign for a house near the corner of 17th and Brainerd St in East Hill area of Pensacola.....does anyone know anything about, or have any warnings about this area? I have seen in previous posts that people warn to stay away from numbered streets but that East Hill is a good place to live.

I ask because this will be a "sight unseen" move

the corner of 17th and Brainerd St in East Hill area of Pensacola

Short walk to Ozone, doable to McGuires and Bagleheads, very quick drive to the Beach...buy a bike for Palafox Street and Fish House, and that will work fine.
