Oh my.

I'd have to see one in person. I am strangely aroused and a little bit confused...not sure what's going on here but I think I like it. I like it better than the X-33; doesn't look like it's exclusive to aviators.

Hmmm, 0ne Dude is strangely aoused, by an Aviator "little dick" watch, another thinks it's butt ugly! The aviator wristwatch culture kind of bafffles me; however, the utmost in patience is commendable... to pay four-figure $$$ for delivery of a product which may take years.:D

You all should wonder over to the watch forums and read the reaction to the new Z-33 in the watch underworld.

I'm not a retro design kind of guy so this to me is quite unappealing. Not to mention 20mm thick??? That is crazy large. I'm sure a few fans of the old Omega Flightmaster will find some love for it though. It is the long anticipated replacement for the X-33 and will be available in May to the general pubilc through Omega boutiques only.

All that said, I sure there is one hell of a steep discount for group buys. $5900 is going to be a heavly lift for a quartz watch without a metal bracelet. You think trying to scrape a group of guys together to go in on an $860 X-33 was tough.

What about an Omicron Spymaster group buy?

Wow....these pictures truly capture the size of the beast. Why is the case so large for a quartz movement?

What do you think happens to this thing during an ejection? Maybe a parachute is packed inside the case.

Somehow it seems that the designers wanted a pilot watch without actually consulting any pilots. As for the size, that does seem a bit thick. Look at the size of the crown versus the top of the face. I'm not sure a large Planet Ocean chrono is that fat.

The face doesn't bother me as much as the actual size. That, and it needs a metal bracelet. The concept is great, the execution, not so much.

Concur, ugly. For 6k a watch had better have an automatic movement and a very nice leather strap at the least.

Omega's stated goal is to push into Rolex's price territory ($5k+) and their recent new offerings as well as straight up yearly price increases on old models reflects it. I'm a big fan of my Omegas (Speed Pro, X-33, and formally a Planet Ocean), and one of the reasons I was drawn to them was their more down to earth pricing for very quality pieces. Rolexes are nice watches, but at some point you are paying a premium for their branding over the actual quality.

This Z-33 is fugly, but Omega had some nice other pieces at Baselworld. The Planet Ocean reminded them they had good design roots, then they go about forgetting it...

I agree, Omega is the watch for people who know watches. They're high quality, great name and the price is reasonable like you said. I've got a Seamaster right now and love it. I'd definitely consider getting another one, however if their prices start creeping up, I'd change my mind.
