No OCS Boards for SNA till March!!

flyboy

I talked with my OR today who informed me that I would have to wait till the March 15 board to resubmit my package for BDCP SNA. I don't know if anybody else has heard this but that is disappointing news if true! I guess they have filled their slots till then and aren't having the board through the winter months. Anybody else who has this same information, can you concur? Thanks

I haven't heard anything from my OR but I wouldn't be surprised with the surplus of aviators I keep reading about. Someone also posted something on the November 2009 board thread. At least we don't have it as bad as the Marines with no boards until October. I have a feeling the March boards will be very competitive. What is the approximate wait time between Pro rec and OCS these days?

I don't know how the board availability works out, but I confirmed with the fleet processor that I am in for the Jan board, and my only selection choice was SNA. Couldn't tell ya though if that board is filled already or if they did slide the board to the right (jeez I hope not!)

Guys these rumors get started all the time, and there is no way to confirm if it's accurate or not. Get everything submitted, and it will go to the board as soon as it can--there's nothing else you can do but wait at this point. Waiting sucks, but it'll happen!

I've not heard this, and my OR is to have me in for the January boards. He did say that the navy has already picked enough for sna for the year but that they are still giving out pro-recs. ( I'm not sure I followed him entirely, but I followed with "So are they giving out pro-recs or not for SNA in january?" and he said they would be).

I think the problem may be just with you flyboy:

Flyboy: Looking through your threads, you weren't selected at this most recent October board. If you are not selected, there is a "cool-off" period before you can resubmit for the exact same designation (There are loop holes, such as GPA improvements, ASTB improvements etc. Ask your OR). I want to say it's a 6 month wait, but I don't recall. Someone in the know will chime in soon.

Everyone else: I think we're still good to go for January

Yep, that is correct, a six month cool down is in order, you can use the time to study up, soften your liver and/or PT. The only way to resubmit early is if you make a "significant change" to your package. As Nugget said, your OR can give you better guidance on that one

Yes, I was a BDCP SNA non select and had to wait 6 months to re apply. you can reapply earlier, how ever package must have significantly changed, which isn't easy to get approved.

So is this whole thread BS? Flyboy threw up the red flag for no reason?

I didn't mean to freak everybody out, I am just relaying what is coming from my recruiter. If anybody is to be mad at somebody, be mad at the OR for giving the wrong information.

As to me getting non-select for the recent board, this is true. And I have heard that there is a wait period to resubmit. I have attained my Instrument rating and another 36 hours of flight time which from my experience constitutes a BIG change in my package. I checked this over with the recruiting district, and they told me it was enough of a change to resubmit. The next words out of their mouth was that they could submit in February for the March selection board as there is "no SNA/SNFO board until then." Trust me when I say that I hope this is a mistake, but that is what is coming from the recruiter. I had posted this information as a reference to the others on this forum to try and get a correct answer...nothing more. If people are saying there is a selection board in January, then I will ask the recruiter to send my package to Millington. I know how the military works as I have spent the last five years serving. For those who haven't yet worn the uniform, understand that this kind of thing happens all the time.

Not that this makes flyboy's information fact, but my recruiter told me the same thing; no more SNA till march. Of course his exact words were "something like march," so who knows how accurate his statement is.
