Just finished reading it. One of the best books I've read in a while. I recommend it to anyone.

Read it after the guys in SERE recommended it. I liked the story and some of the points it made... but I thought it was poorly written... Almost like Marcus just wrote down what he said when telling his story in a bar.

I'd still recommend it.

I read it this week. Once I got past the "I'm a SEAL, bow down before me" crap the story was actually pretty good. Like you said, very casually worded, but a good story.

I read and also recommend it.
Right now, I've just started "House to House" by David Bellavia (Haven't gotten too far into it due to ROTC Summer reading requirements).

I got really bored on cruise and found 'House to House' in the ship's library- finished it in half a day. Great story, but I'd echo the criticism of 'Lone Survivor' in that it's not terribly well written. Still, if you're just looking to pass the time, it's a good choice.

Im not much of a reader, but I really enjoyed Lone Survivor. I also went on to read "The Warrior Elite" and "The Finishing School" by Dick Couch, who co-authored with Lutrell. I would recommend them both as interesting reads. I also just started Kerosene Cowboys, its pretty good so far.

Same here, not much of a reader, the damn textbooks take up most of my reading these days. I was in an airport on my way back home from some leave and was looking around for something to read and stumbled on Lone Survivor. I couldn't put it down! Really motivating...what those guys went through made my troubles seem pretty petty.

Wasn't Patrick Robinson the co-author instead of Dick Couch?

Kerosene Cowboys is a good book.

I think you are right. Patrick Robinson is listed on the cover, but he gives credit to both in the acknowledgments. I believe Couch was credited with a large part of the info about when he was at buds, since he was running around taking notes the entire time, while the trainees were getting beat.
