Yes, I watched it all four days. Found myself kinda rootin' fer Rocco there at the end...
I just wish the USGA would go to the sudden death playoff that the PGA uses.

It was a great way to spend my Sunday. For all the problems Tiger had with his knee off the tee he sure as hell made up for it in his short game. Just wish they could have done the playoff today. Guess I have to watch the highlights on Sportscenter ...

I just watched the highlights on ESPN. Pretty amazing. I will be watching tomorrow afternoon. I think Rocco's in trouble.

Rocco seems like a great guy and is a fellow Pennsylvanian, and Tiger is...well...Tiger. I'm torn about who I'm rooting for, but it's great to know that regardless, a class act is going to walk away with the victory. Only if all high profile sports <cough> basketball <cough> were in the same situation.

Couldn't agree with you more (although sans the shouting). I used to not root for Tiger b/c everyone else was the underdog compared to him but then it hit me that watching him is like watching Bobby Jones back in the day or The Golden Bear back in his. Truly history in the making. Now I want Tiger to gobble up Majors to beat the record and when I watch the Masters with my kid I can say things like how I remember watching Tiger chip in at 16 during the 05' Masters. The man is on another level when it comes to his competition, like MJ with the Bulls. Who didn't have Michael Jordan as their favorite basketball player when they were a kid? Granted, I wouldn't mind seeing a class-act like Mediate finally take home a Major.

While I agree that he is an awesome golfer, this is one of the problems I have with society today. The guy plays a freakin game for a living! This doesn't even come close to the accomplishments of true heroes. Everyone idolizes these people and when it comes down to it, they get paid ridiculous amounts of money to do nothing that benefits society.

This is you. FWIW I pretty much agree with you, but still.

Yeah, well. The Dude abides.
I kind of have a feeling that Rocco is gonna pull this one out. Tiger's knee has been getting worse and worse, and his 73 yesterday won't get it done today. If the setup is as it was yesterday (7200 yards) rather than 7600, that plays into Rocco's favor as distance won't become an issue; especially for the par 5's which will be makeable in two by both players. In Tiger's favor, no one has ever stared Tiger down playing 18 holes w/ him w/ a major on the line and beat him. Rocco by 2 strokes.

I dunno man. Interesting stat. Tiger Woods, +7 on the first hole for the tournament. He destroyed the rest of that course AND he has been playing big tournaments at Torrey since he was a kid. He's won the Buick there like half a dozen times. He is the best player in the world playing on what is more or less his home course against a 45 year old who isn't in the top 150. I still think Tiger wins, even on one leg. 5 hours and we will know.

Gen. Yeager started to believe his press in the 80's, contrast him with Bob Hoover whose accomplishments are similar and yet is much more of a humble person. Not to jump on USAF types, after all I was an Infanty officer so not much clout here, but BG Ritchey seems to have the same mindset.
