That sir is the ALQ-78 ESM ant.
They had a P-3 at Moffett that shaved a few inches off on of those pods during a near gear-up. FE saved the day when he realized what was happening at the last second and fire-walled the engines.

Just look at all those Orions on the flight line.

I'll bet they didn't have any problems scheduling 5 flights a day!!:icon_rage:icon_rage

Hell, I didn't have any problems scheduling 7 a day (not everyday, of course), what with x-cntrys and bounce hops not requiring an "A" aircraft. Biggest problem was aircrew and their "My wife she... My dog it..." excuses.:icon_rage 9 aircraft, 1 in check, and one down mechanically. Only happened a couple of times, IIRC, but 5 was a piece of cake.

I remember hearing that one. What year did that happen?

And the random controller telling us that our "port landing gear did not retract". Because they saw the ALQ-78 antenna.
