Which watch?

Might wanna take a look at this website for those wanting or owning a Rolex.

http://www.qualitytyme.net/pages/rolex_or_replica.html

I have had this conversation with FC2Spyguy before after comparing his Rolex to my FAKE Rolex that I bought for $75 in Mexico.

My fake submariner passes all of the obvious tests but the O-ring on the "Triplock Crown Seal."

How does yours rate?

And after seeing a few real Rolex watches compared to a few Fakes I must say I'm impressed with the fakes and disappointed in the real things.

Here come the flames

As for the time difference. My watch gains a second a day, I'll have to give that stem down trick a try.

Another thing you can try is to put it in the box that the watch came in while you're not wearing it, assuming you still have it. That way it's flat and shouldn't lose/gain much time at all, if any.

That must be it: I'm just not thinking!!

To each his/her own. It always cracks me up when guys tell me what I "need" or what I "want" ... whether it's watches, guns, cars, whiskey, computers, houses, vacations, cigars, or women ....

I choose what I get/get what I choose.

That's what I call ... "thinking". :)

OK OK lets call it the cheap pilot? I can no longer afford the expensive watches, cars, guns, whiskey, computers, houses, cigars, or women. In fact, its the women that caused me to be in this position of poverty.
sigggghhhh
Once upon a time, I drove Mercedes, wore Rolex's, shot Hammerlis, smoked Macanudos, drank 100 yr old Scotch, had a villa in Ecuador and a small ranch in Montana, and dated some of the most beautiful women in the world. Alas and alack (;<), here I am relegated to wearing a $150 watch, flying small piston airplanes, happily married to a former Ms Alabama and raising a 2 year old son. I gave up all that other shit for what I'm dong right now and happy doing so. BTW, my watch tells me the time within a few hours of what I need to know. <gg> My ancient 1911 shoots better than I am capable of doing, and my little Nissan Versa gets me to work and back. The whiskey doesn't taste like it used to and our modest 1400sqft house is adequate for our needs. I'm happy with life and as far as I'm concerned, that is what life is all about.

Right on, Bruddah. Semper Fi to you, too.

P.S. ... I love Hawaii ... but then, I love lots of everything. :D

I've got a Relic watch that was a gift from two years ago. I always get compliments on it and it's very accurate. I checked it against GMT and it seemed spot on. It's only a $65 watch. The face glows in the dark as a cheap way to tell the time at night.

A bit off topic, but I read/heard somewhere that the most common time shown on pictures of clocks/watches is 10:10. I never really took the time to look but all of the pictures on this thread seems to back this up. :icon_smil

Well, mine was given to me by my father for commissioning/graduation. He figured since he didn't have to pay a cent for my school he would make it a good present. And, from what I understand, some nice gentleman (I believe my Uncle who was a harrier pilot, now United pilot) suggested that watches are always a good present, especially for someone going into aviation.
That's right, I remember seeing your earlier post...good on you, that is a great gift (but your earlier pic showed the Pepsi bezel and the pic above shows the Coke bezel...which is it?).

And after seeing a few real Rolex watches compared to a few Fakes I must say I'm impressed with the fakes and disappointed in the real things.

Sorry, I think replicas are freaking weak. I think someone is lame to need to wear a certain brand simply for the "brand cache"....but even lamer is being so desperate for that cache as to lie to folks about what you are wearing. There are plenty of good watches in all price points; you don't have to be a poseur if you don't have the jack for a Rolex, just get a bit of self-respect and buy a nice Seiko or Citizen.

What if you have an Omega, 2 x Citizens, and a Soviet Pilot's watch, and bought a fake Rolex in Chinatown for the experience?

They are weak..

I guess what I should have said is that the "real" Rolex Submariner and GMT watches that I have seen people wearing looked just the same as the fakes. So, the question is are they real or..... "real"? So, I'm thinking the real ones are weak too!

I have had my hands on several other brans of fakes and they all scream fake when inspected as does the fake Rolex. But the other brands genuine counterparts show and feel like a quality watch. So maybe I have yet to see a genuine Rolex.

It's the Coke bezel. When I made the first post about the watch I was still in a state of shock/hungover from the previous nights party. Now while completely sober I had the patience to find the proper picture.

As far as the original box. Yes, I do have it, but it sits in the safe w/ all the documentation in case the watch is ever stolen or something like that. I got it insured, seemed like a smart thing to do, and it's cheap as hell to insure.

+1 ... :)

My rubber Casio has been there when I need it for a couple of decades. And it's a real rubber Casio, too -- not a replica ... :D

Great watch with a lot of cool features

Anyone heard anything or have any experience with the Tissot T-touch?

http://shop.tissot.ch/mm5/merchant....uct_Code=T33789892&Category_Code=t-touch_mens

I think it's a cool little watch but don't know too much about the company. Thanks in advance.
Very cool watch with a lot of features. Tissot is a swiss watch company that is part of the Swatch group (as are very high-end companies like Breguet, Blancpain, as well as Omega, Hamilton), they make mostly quartz watches that are a little more sporty than the conservative offerings in the other companies.

If you want to know more, here is a YouTube video/review (that's right...someone taped himself operating the different modes of the watch for just this occasion):
