Thanks for all the advice guys. To clear up a few things, I have 13 days between the time by ship gets back to the US and the time I ship to Quantico...I'm there for combined Jr/Sr's so I suppose that there isn't any sort of moving my session back to next summer which would be OCC. I think that would require some sort of reapp?? Anyway, I'll get on with it and thank you all for the ideas!!

Oh, I also forgot...The ship is about 500 feet long without any room to run though, because the upper deck is cut to hell because of suite balconies. The reason the treadmill is so booked is because there are 700 other student on the ship and only two treadmills. It sucks basically. Pullups and situps are AOK though.

Ugh.
Upper deck- that means there's a lower deck right... Could you run stairs?
Good luck, and don't hurt yourself!

i'm 3 weeks out from the combined course and starting to get shin splints for the first time in my life!! any suggestions, obviously i want to fix this problem without sacrificing any physical preperations but i definately wanna be healthy before i start. it started shortly after i wrestled for a bit with my old college team mates, i dunno if that had anything to do with it or what but any suggestions would be very much appriciated

dont do anything too harsh only 3 weeks out. Did you just get them for the first time or have you been getting them the last few times?

Try getting your hands on a kettlebell (http://www.kettlebell.tv/). You can get an extremely good cardio work out with them if you try. You can find a lot of good info over at www.specialtactics.com.

I had hit a wall with my running a while back. I could run forever but couldn't get a mile and a half any faster then about 10:30. I spent 4 weeks combining running and kettlebells and got down to 9 minute mile and a halfs consistently and easily. Then I hurt my knee and now get to start from scratch all over again.

Don't push yourself on your PT, just focus on maintaining what you have at this point. Freeze water in a styrofoam cup, and at the end of the day peel off the styrofoam and massage each leg with the ice, starting at the ankle.

Stretch before and after any activity (duh). You might also want to think about cutting down any high-impact activities like running to 3 or less times a week. As a substitute, you can use a bike, go swimming, etc. or do something that isn't as high impact.

it just started a few days ago, and it's been mostly constant, i've been icing them once a day and still running etc. although at a slower pace, i think i'll start icing them twice a day and continue my routine

Medication is considered contraband if it isnt prescription or neccesary to live stuff. Some things are totally allowable like NewSkin (good to have) but anything taken internally is not supposed to be in your possesion.

Having said that I dont know about everybody elses platoon but I had a small pharmacy of stuff I bought on first libo in my footlocker (Motrin, Sinus Meds, Advil, bacitration, etc) because I had learned that the corpsman only showed up to do sick call in the morning and about once ever 4 days at night. Our staff had to have known about it because everybody in the platoon knew about it and I did pass some out to people that needed something and couldnt wait (usually for guys with migranes). Its a proceed at your own discretion and at the risk of being nailed on it, but if your staff has the same attitude of mine IE do whatever you need to in order to survive then keeping a little bottle of pills and using it smart wont draw the fury of the staff.

Don't act like you're hiding it, and claim ignorance if you're caught red-handed.

Basically what I did with mine. If anybody asked I would say yes its there, till then it was just a ziplock bag that sat at the bottom of my foot locker that wasnt hidden but it was under the two top shelves in the foot locker.

Our company had corpmen come every day at 4:30. If we needed stuff they would hand it out if they felt like it. Also, they would come out on the hikes and all other events and would hand out stuff sometimes. You could just buy some on libo too like you mentioned. I would keep it in the contraband foot locker with my cell phone and other stuff so that way I could have it on the weekends. You should pretty much be able to get motrin whenever you need.
