Well to be honest. It appears as though you haven't been selected yet. I would worry about that first. By the time you get to API things are going to probably be different than any article you read now. When you graduate OCS that would be a better time to ask this type of question as it would be more accurate to your situation. I’m not trying to be a ball buster but walk before you start running and worry about things you have control over.

But I would say that a 15% passing rate is a bit on the low side. Your number might be the drop/fail rate. I have no direct knowledge though.

That's a ridiculously low number. I won't throw numbers out there, but that's just plain wrong.

Thanks twobecrazy, you are right. I like to get a jump on things early. You are spot on by the way, I have not been selected, the November board is my first time up. Thanks for the info and advice too.

Geeze, 15%?? Unless they've started shooting every other class, there's absolutely no way it's that low. API isn't that hard by a long shot.

Who gives a shit what the retention rate is?! If you work hard enough and want to earn your wings bad enough, you will get through no matter what the retention rate is. I say sack up and worry about the next task at hand instead of worrying about statistics.

I saw a Chinese kid make it through who barely spoke correct "engrish" and had the athleticism and hand to eye coordination of a monkey fucking a coconut.You'll be fine.

You have to work at failing water survival, though it's been done. Otherwise, if you've ever had swimming lessons, you can pass. The swimming-in-circles part is boring, the rest is fun, the Dunker is in the 'not hard, just sucks' category.

Yep. Even if you haven't and fail the initial test the 2 weeks of remedial swim from getting rolled will pass you. Fester might have an opposite view but I never heard of anyone actually being attrited for water survival (other than a few DORs for fear of the swim/dunker).
