Correct that is how it should happen, but nothing is perfect

Didn’t mean to scare anyone. I hope that situation is extremely rare.

MEPS does very basic eye testing/pre screening parameters. NAMI does about x20 as much.

You must remember when it comes to surgery they are not looking at anything with regards to MEPS, they are only looking at the documents produced before/during/after surgery.

We never saw a single person who had corrective surgery get DQ'd by NAMI, it was always identified when documents were submitted and DQ'd then.

I submitted all my pre and post-op documents to my recruiter a long time ago and I mentioned to him that I read on Airwarriors that I need to have my doctor sign some sort of document that seems to be part of the PRK waiver process. He said he never had to do that before. It's just worrying since a lot of the info I read on this website regarding the whole PRK thing is different from what I had to do.

I had the waiver form in hand that my eye doc filled out and I submitted to MEPS. Not sure if I can share that waiver over a forum but your recruiter may have a different way of doing things

If I was the applicant I would ask his / her recruiter if they could verify if the respective MEPS has any specific medical documentation guidance for corrective eye surgery.

NTAG Phoenix does have two MEPS locations: Phoenix and ABQ. Could be part of the reasoning but I would suggest verifying

Went to Phoenix MEPS. The one where they jam 50 people into an elevator at a time and go to the 30th floor of the building lol

After asking my recruiter, I asked the processor and he said regarding the PRK surgery, I was approved by MEPs and my physical was approved by N33. He also provided a document from N33 that confirms it.

So I guess that means I'm good to go... for now.

Also, what is the difference between N3M and N33?

It's the same thing. N3M (Medical Waivers Office) changed to N33 like 4-5 years ago. Old school folks still call it N3M.
