Some Brits did almost the exact same thing a couple months ago with an Apache. Must be a trend, or maybe even an SOP.

Hasty TRAP is a briefed to SOP in the HMLAs, we have seat belts set up on our ammo bay doors. If flying CAS it is always prefered to be picked up by the Grunts, failing that a Huey pick up is nice and worst case on the ammo bay of a Cobra.
Stuff like this has been going on since Viet Nam.
