Some people complain about lowering vision requirements as lowering the quality of pilots. With contacts and special glasses that we have available now, there is no reason to stop a qualified candidate from becommign a pilot. If you can correct the vision you open up a much larger pool for qualified people. So instead of keeping good eyes and worse flying skills, they can keep their standards on flying ability and take some corrected eyes. I don't have to wear glasses as I have 20/17 vision, but I know people that are very good pilots who do not have perfect vision but with contacts have 20/15 and which is better than a natural 20/20. Just a thought.
