What happend to my hot dog thread?

Ok, so it was a bad thread, I'm sorry. But I was under the impression that the War Zone was unmoderated. I've just never seen a thread disappear before, only get locked, that's all. Any insight/clarification/admonishing/lecturing is welcome.
