What are you doing after the Navy?

I'm just curious how many aviators out there kept flying (for a main occupation) after they left the Navy? If not, what are you doing?

If you haven't left the Navy yet, are you planning on flying after? If you aren't what do you have in mind?

Not currently flying full-time, but hopefully that will change once we move to Norfolk.

havent flown since i got out 2 + years ago. became a cop and not missing flying too much but there are those days when i see a helo up in the air (not many in south Texas) and I wish i was up there.

After leaving active duty in 1977, flew in the Reserves for 10 years. All but one of the 8 civilian jobs since 1977 were/are aviation-related (technical writer and magazine editing/graphic design).

I've been out for 20 years and I'm still working on Navy aircraft.

I left the Navy but I still fly hornets as a civilian.

I haven't left the Navy yet, but they're keeping a job open for me at my home town McDonalds, so I have a plan.

Out of the cockpit but not out of SIGINT. Going Reserve let me overlap the two a good bit so spent 18 of my 20 in the cockpit.

I'm planning on flying but just in case I'm getting my masters to make me a little more marketable. Lord know I certainly need it.

I imagine I might still fly privately, but I doubt anybody would pay me enough to fly - there will be a slew of WO's with the same or better flying quals and a lower salary expectation.

I will be leaving with a masters, a slew of acquisition quals (mostly production and quality with some T&E) and a decent idea of how to get paid in the corporate world - the 1510 transition will definitely pay off for me. Some combination of accommodating my wife's career, deciding where we want to live, and how much money I decide I "need" to make will determine where I end up.

I don't know what i'll be doing. Hopefully flying for an airline. I have a MBA, so that option is there as well.

All I do know is that I'll be doing whatever it is, in or around Dallas, Texas!
