there was a Prowler pilot out of Whidbey who had an external tank come loose, smash up the wing in flight severely cripling the plane to where they had to fly at over 250 knots on landing just to stay level. They were going to ditch over water but brass balls McGee flew the bastard in and landed it way over speed. I would have been squeezing the handles so hard they would have bent. Can anyone say Naval Achievement Medal?
