Hi everyone! My windshield just ate a rock today and I'm getting it replaced tomorrow. What should I do with the DoD sticker? Should I just rip it off and destroy it, or do I have to bring it with me to get a new one issued? Thanks!

Rip what you can off. stick it on a piece of paper and take it to pass and tag

When I bought a new car I made sure to take off the sticker. When I went to get a new one the lady behind the desk asked if I removed the tag from my old car. I said yes and she gave me a new one. End of story.

We had our cracked front window of our van replaced and the guy that replaced the window was very professional and took the sticker off the old window and placed it on the new window. Ask if your repair person can do this....if not, then have it scrape the sticker and take it to base security for replacement.

I've had some put the sticker back on with no problems.

Are these decals manufactured out of platinum, or are you guys just trying to save John Q. Taxpayer 10¢?

No. They are trying to save themselves from less than ideal hours that most base offices have, the potential line the day you need service, the travel time and the explanation to the person at the gate as to why they have no sticker. And yes, they have a security thread in the sticker which is a matter of national security.

You gotta love pass and tag offices. The new one at North Island is pure greatness. They spent several million dollars building a new gate and pass office so you have a good first impression of the base. Then you walk in, and it is looks like it is staffed by a maternity ward. There is an 8 month pregnant airman stuffing an egg McMuffin in her face right next to the big red sign that says "No food or drink in this building". Then you can't get service because the rest of the staff is talking on their cell phones to their soon to be baby daddies with the giant red sign behind them saying "Absolutely no cell phone use in this building."

GREAT first impression.

Get the guy to transfer the sticker if he can. Save yourself some pain.

Parking Tickets

They also can't suspend your base driving privilege if you don't have a sticker to prove that you have not been abusing it.

Cause ID stickers save those of us who routinely go on base so much time......

What is the point of these stickers if we are doing 100% ID check now?

Believe it or not the Air Force has said the same thing and are no longer issuing decals. (At least, not at Langley.)

Thats great until someone has to go to an installation from another service, requiring a painful trip to get a temp pass.

My brother in the AF was stationed in Minot and they stopped the decal thing last year some time.
