Just wondering about current deployment schedules for aviators right out of flight school now. Been hearing a lot about 18 month deployments and what not and just curious on average length and how many times one is typically deployed. I know all the rules go out the window during war time, just curious on war time vs. peace time deployments. Thanks

As a non aviation marine who has been on my fair share of peacetime and war time deployments, with air and ground elements, I can tell you this. If your going on the Navy's boat, you leave the AOR and come home when the navy says its time to come home.. My personal experience is that the deployment times between the two were no different at all.. Its alittle different story for the ground pounders, but there is a pretty steady rotation. An Average Marine Deployment is about 6 months to a year depending on what you do. Aviation side, your looking at 6 months, either on boat or forward operating area. Anything beyond that isnt too common.
