I remember reading a response several years ago that a naval aviator had written to a young perspective student who had gotten accepted to both the Air Force Academy and the USNA and was asking which one to go with.
The response started something like: Congratulations on being accepted to these prestigious institutions and then goes on to talk about how the air force is great at a bunch of things, but if you wanted a real challenge you should join the navy. Anyone know the post I'm talking about? I've spent like the past 20 minutes searching in google and on this forum to find it, but with no luck.
