Y'all really do feel threatened by her don't you? If she's so powerless, why do you/conservative media feel the need to degrade her like this (with pictures that aren't even her btw)? I'm seriously asking, I'd like to know.

I just figured that as members/former members of the profession of arms, we'd have a little more respect for elected officials, regardless of our political beliefs or feelings about them.
But hey, the last 3 years have taught me a lot about how morally low the people of this country can truly sink...

Most of her ideas are ridiculous, and will never get off the ground. it is worth keeping in mind that crazy untenable ideas usually produce small wins that, in the end, benefit everyone. Is the GND a great idea? As described, no. Does pushing such a dramatic idea open the door for smaller wins? Yes.
This refrain should be familiar to conservatives as it’s driven most of their public policy for quite some time WRT LGBT rights, gun rights, and questions of women’s health. Go full retard pushing for something stupid, then accept smaller wins.

I hesitate to even dip my toe into this shitshow, but oh well. The above stupid, classless, and tasteless memes aside, it's a cop-out to automatically declare that someone's "afraid" of an idea just because they vehemently disagree with it. That's just a higher-class version of the crap that's been flung on this thread, to the tune of "HURR UR A SNOWFLAKE! YOU MELT FRUM MAI HOT TAEKS!" It's a condescending way of saying "oh, you poor thing. You're just afraid. Here, let me tell you what your best interests really are, kiddo." The assumption that true agency and free-thinking can only yield one opinion is arrogance. Because you don't have to engage with opposing ideas, just declare them outside the bounds of discourse and move on.
Just because someone's cosmically wrong, even tastelessly so, doesn't mean they're automatically afraid of black people, brown people, white people, men, women, gay people, straight people, Christians, atheists, or whoever. Or that they've outsourced their thinking to someone else. You freely admit that AOC's ideas, as presented so far, are ridiculous. So if you want to call out the above posters for being classless and tasteless in their reaction to these absurd policy presentations, that's one thing, and I'd agree. But what evidence do you have that they're "obsessed" or "afraid" other than your own personal prejudices about the right under Trump? AOC has made a whole lot of policy noise. That's fine; it's literally her job now. She's going to get a lot of it back from people who disagree, and that doesn't mean they're "obsessed," regardless of her being a minority, a millenial, or a woman.
Edit: TL;DR, someone being an asshole doesn't automatically make the other side right or wrong. It just means they're being an asshole.

It does indeed, but the point remains. Vehement disagreement for any of those reasons doesn't ipso facto make someone "afraid" or "obsessed."
Regardless of what the MSM has instructed the common folk to repeat, the larger concern is the fact an entire congressional district elected a women who (ridiculous ideas aside) has no qualms with infringing on constitutional rights and imposing large government authoritarianism on the entire nation. She is an openly avowed socialist and her very presence is a detriment to the fundamental articles of the constitution. That's why she garners so much vitriol. She is disguised as a doctor who is proposing tyrannical policy ideas as a cure for all of America's (...and the world's) problems.
In the long game, her policy's might be a greater threat to the founding documents than Trump is right now.
Well, she isn't truly powerless as long as the media gives her wacky ideas a forum and the party doesn't distance themselves from such radical goals.
I am hardly afraid of her. I am afraid her socialist economy and freedom killing ideas take hold and start rolling down the slope all becasue she is perky and attractive where Bernie wasn't. As to how the right is treating her, same way the left hung David Duke's past and even then philosophies on the GOP. It's politics dude. No one is above it. It's their job. They signed up for it. Don't feel sorry for Cortez.
There's nothing in the constitution about capitalism or socialism, and there are a whole host of examples of long-standing government policies that clearly fall within the definition of socialism. Yes, a lot of what AOC has proposed is hare-brained, but just because she proposes an idea doesn't mean that it becomes law or policy. Those who oppose her will find more traction in calling out specific policy proposals on their merits, instead of flailing their arms decrying the socialist bogeyman.
All true. But a spade is a spade. She is a self proclaimed socialist and her proposals mostly fall into that camp. Proposals that are very much being criticized on their merits. Have you missed that? Yes some guys have their hair on fire. You always get that on both sides. It's their job. Like being a n old school hockey enforcer. But plenty are talking realism, technology, cost, and freedom restrictions.
