Other than genocide, how does a country make a dramatic demographic change?Russia is going to need to make some dramatic economic and demographic changes if they're going to reach a Soviet level of things. I think if anything, in the future there could be a more pro-Europe leadership that will take advantage of any US retraction in Europe to integrate with the rest of the continent. Russia's not in any position to do anything to the US.
I understand the implication. I was just curious how you suggest they do that... dramatically. The implication was they're in a serious demographic decline, hence the need to dramatically change that and swing it in the other direction. That is unlikely to happen though.
Putin has promoted ethic Russians make many babies for the good of the fatherland and the Church. Short of the genocide you speak of, this is their only option, and it is being pursued. Patriotic Orthodox Russians should fuck for their country.I understand the implication. I was just curious how you suggest they do that... dramatically.
I want to start out by saying that my comments apply to the concept in general , not the people involved in this specific situation. Never underestimate what someone will say, if they are motivated to do so. This includes professionals, and highly educated and respected semi public figures.Ms. Ford probably is telling the truth to a large degree. I have a hard time believing that a reputable university professor would put her public image on the line with a lie.
Dr. Y should have just waited to accuse Dr. XI want to start out by saying that my comments apply to the concept in general , not the people involved in this specific situation. Never underestimate what someone will say, if they are motivated to do so. This includes professionals, and highly educated and respected semi public figures.
I could give many examples, but the one that sticks out is a sexual assault that was reported several days after the fact. The claim was that a co-worker forcefully raped a person in the workplace, after hours. Rape protocols are done, no physical evidence found, which was not unexpected. The assault as described would not have left physical damage to her, and several days later other physical evidence would be unlikely to be present.
A review of the facts found that the suspect was speaking at a conference out of the area, and had multiple witnesses to that fact. They could possibly have been where she said he was, at that time. Video evidence of the area around the incident location, does not support that he was there at the time, and proves he was at conference location at the time of the attack. It also proves he was there before and after at various locations within the conference area, so no way he could have flown back and forth. The victim always maintains it was Dr. X, and it could be no other person. The victim, Dr. Y never sues the location where they both worked, and other than maintaining that the suspect was never charged due to his status has never done anything else about the case. What would be her motivation to make up the story?
Dr. Y is not crazy ( in the layman's sense of the word ) and has no known ulterior motive for the story. I have personal doubts as to if an assault actually occurred at all, but am 100% confident her named suspect is not responsible.
It makes me wonder now if Dr. X were to ever be nominated for some position, or run for office how this scenario would play out for him.
That is the scary part.Dr. Y should have just waited to accuse Dr. X
Then just forget when or where the alleged assault took place. Dr. X can’t have an alibi if there’s no specific time or place mentioned.
Stop trying to mansplain away your complicity in aggressively promoting the patriarchy. That is the scary part.
The whole scenario made me think of something that happened to me sometime in 1985. I'm at my girlfriends house, her parents are away and she has 15-20 people over. Standard high school party, beer drinking and several bottles of peppermint schnapps. No one, except one person gets sloppy drunk. The person that does is a friend of my girlfriend, who eventually appears walking down the stairs nekkid. Not nude, nekkid, it's my story . She;s crying that no one likes her, and generally acting like a drunk 17 year old.
I jump up, and basically fireman carry her back up stairs, followed by my GF. She tries to get this girl dressed, and I help out by grabbing clothes from where she had ditched them around and about upstairs. It takes about 10 minutes for her to get the girl calmed down and situated in the bed where she passes out.
No let's fast forward to my never to occur confirmation hearing... here are the facts: Drunk girl with no clothes is carried upstairs by me, only for me to reappear in about 10 minutes. If she, or anyone at that party that saw that now claims that myself and GF did something illegal or wrong up there, how do I defend myself? I could never prove that I am innocent, and they could never prove I was guilty. Was I guilty of illegal drinking, yes. Was I watching other underage people drink, yes. Should any of that be a consideration for me being an office holder, No!.
The generation that documents every move on social media is going to have a hard tow to hoe when it comes to being vetted. I'm not excusing illegal behavior, but at some point youthful indiscretions need to be treated as such.
I get it, Justice Kavanagh has an (R) after his name so you have to defend him. It's much more likely than not that Ms. Ford is telling the truth. However, the key point is that her claims can't be substantiated; she doesn't have to necessarily be a liar on top of that. If we could move past jumping to that conclusion, this whole debacle wouldn't get nearly as heated. You are joking, right? No college professor can hurt their reputation by becoming a soldier for the left. No university colleague would doubt her testimony just because it is an article of faith for the left you must believe the woman. There was absolutely no professional risk for Dr Ford. She will be forever a hero to her fellows.
False accusations of rape and sexual assault occur, and I never claimed otherwise. However, they are very rare...the perception is that they are common because it makes headlines anytime it happens.I want to start out by saying that my comments apply to the concept in general , not the people involved in this specific situation. Are you willing to concede the odds of a false accusation (or misremembered and superimposed memory) are different when there is major political advantage to derailing the confirmation hearings of a controversial (but previously respected) jurist when political control of the Supreme Court hangs in the balance are very different from the baseline odds of a false accusation being made against a random person?False accusations of rape and sexual assault occur, and I never claimed otherwise.
