It's just frustrating as a student to have these suspensions happening. Losing three of your starters in basketball hinders your season to say the least. I realize it's not the best solution (if a solution at all) and it is definitely not fair to the "respectable" athletes who shoot recreationally. However, I am content to see some preventative action taking place to at least attempt to stop gun related suspensions that have been plaguing UT sports.

Administrative action for it's own sake is rarely useful (or healthy). Seeing that this is a preventative and not a punitive measure (at least some could argue this from a punitive standpoint), it doesn't make one iota of sense. Athletes making dumb choices with guns won't necessarily be stopped from making poor choices and getting suspended without them. The wrong issue is being addressed here.
