Uniform Guide

I am looking for a good Unifrom guide, that has pictures and descriptions of when which uniform should be worn, season, events ect. I have been searching the internet but I only come up with the long winded regulations not so much just pictures and description of wear. Thanks for your help.

I actually wore the Tropical Khakis on duty one day in DG; a good morale booster for the squadron. I wore shirt stays too but don't think it helped the overall look.

Would look even better with the optional use of All weather coat, Helmet and umbrella.

Must be a hold over British tradition.

I remember wearing tropical whites during boot camp liberty weekend. A bunch of us went to Universal Studios Orlando. With the exception of our covers, we pretty much looked just like the guys going around sweeping up trash.

Thank you, heres a question why does the Navy seem to have so many more uniforms than all the other services? The Marines seem to have the best in terms of fewest uniform components, but the ability to combine those peices to make pretty much all their uniforms except the dress blues.

Quick couple questions.

Do you ever wear the tropicals?

Did they not retire the aviation greens?

What is the difference between service blue/khaki and working blue/khaki?

There are several uniforms you just wont every use/wear. Look at all the complaining done on this board about having to have the tanker jacket or the all weather coat. Really if you want simplicity of uniforms you cant beat the Air Force, they only have 4 that are worn for duty and 1 of those is just adding the service coat to the regular blues. I guess they make up for it by trying to come up with a badge, pin, or patch for everything you could think of.

It is funny when you see somebody who has been in three different career fields... Waaaaay to many badges on their chest (if they actually wear them)

3. What is the difference between service blue/khaki and working blue/khaki?

1. probably not
2. no
3. service khaki - CNT or poly/wool material and ribbons and you can wear everywhere.
working khaki - cotton material, no ribbons, mostly worn aboard ship and limited stops outside base.
service blues - ribbons and tie
working blues - no ribbons and no tie

I remember stopping by the El Centro NEX while on det and they had the khaki pith helmets for sale. We bought one and had the student SDO wear it. Made it real easy to identify who was watching the duty desk when everyone was in a bag and the SDO duty swapped 2-3 times daily.

Pith helmets are just plain cool. We had a Vietnamese guy in our USNA company, and we dressed him up in khakis, with a pith helmet, rifle, and bayonet for Halloween. He got a kick out of it, but his former South Vietnamese General father didn't think it was so funny when he saw the pictures. Oh well.

I still have my rifle coach pith helmet from when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, and I freely admit that I sport it every now and then while grilling.
