Just out of curiosity? In the aviation community, does anyone know how commission transfers work? I.e. tranfering from an AF or Marine pilot to the Navy? Are there any age restrictions? How does rank and pay work? etc. Anybody with some insight on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'd start by going to www.bupers.navy.mil and select "Instructions" on the left side. Then go into the MILPERSMAN, and they should have some info there. That instruction has all kinds of stuff about internavy xfers, and they may have stuff in there for coming from another service.

PERS8 at bupers does interservice transfers, or also called lat moves. i've heard it takes about a year to process, and you need a good reason why you want to switch services.

i've only heard of one pilot ever doing it: navy helo pilot to usmc.
