Something I really didn't like about the photography was the reuse of the same camera shots, and shots that were obviously from completely different flights in different areas.

For example, the FCLP flights with an airplane landing on the centerline of the runway and not the carrier box after talking about the carrier box a ton. Or the BFM flights that are out over the water and then suddenly at 1500' over land and then back out over the water. I get that it's tough to shoot that stuff when it's scripted, and adding a couple of chase planes to a student training sortie is a risk management nightmare that no one would allow, but I kept thinking, "how many times am I going to see the same airplane land on the centerline of the same runway at Meridian?"

I'm surprised they didn't use real HUD footage. Unless something has changed, there's nothing classified about the T-45 HUD, or the maneuvers in the syllabus.
 
when I went through I don't recall it being tied to I-Jet or A-Jet; just depended on where you happened to be in the syllabus when FCLPs/CQ cam around. Some people winged on the boat; others came back to K Vegas and flew for another 6 months.
Way back in the olden days SNAs went to boat during Intermediate Jet (in the T-2 Buckeye). Is the boat no longer part of intermediate? I’m aware that recently carrier ops was dropped from the syllabus, so I’m asking about the recent past.
 
I finished it tonight. My closing thoughts are this:

1. The “drama” was unnecessary.

2. I found it interesting that no one appeared to be assigned to Growlers.

3. I was also interested to see that the best SNA of the group, the female Marine captain, picked F-18’s over F-35’s that all the other Marines apparently got.
could be a lifestyle choice at this point. becoming a Marine hornet pilot basically guarantees you will spend several years, if not your whole career, in Miramar.

additionally, as they've consolidated iron, the legacy hornets are flying an impressive amount. much more more so than the F-35s, in fact...
 
Short term gains. Ask the Marine Hornet pilots about getting the last of the Navy's legacy Hornets.

I'm sure the parts and MX boon is real, but I will say that I was supposed to fight a miramar chuck last winter, and he made it through the snapshot drill before the poor guy had to KIO due to an FCS caution and a bunch of BLINs. It was cool joining up with the old girl and reminiscing though.
