Student Loan Reimbursement

Bell

Final Select SNA
So I've searched the forum and bugged my OR to see if there are any student loan reimbursement programs for Navy Officers. From what I've found the only officers that are eligible for such a program are those that went through medical school. Does anybody know if this is the case? Thanks for the help.

I never heard of reimbursements, the only student loan program was deferment for a couple of years.
My info is very dated, so I don't know if this program is still available.

This info is admittedly dated, but my wife's "Student Loan" offer from the Navy was pretty straightforward:
1. We're going to pay you a pretty decent paycheck for being a Naval Officer (LTJG, Nurse Corps) starting the day you graduate.
2. You should use some of that to pay back your student loans.

I expect things have changed.

Works for me.
Thanks for the replies.

We would and they do still tell them the same thing.

Back in 2007 I got student loan repayment when I joined the national guard. It does happen in the services, but usually it's a condition in your original contract.

I was rather hoping there would be something "more enlightened" like this...

I have also heard of the guard doing this and I think recently, we had a FTS officer who has been in recruiting something like 15 years? and during one of our trainings we talked about this, he never remembers seeing any loan repayment or bonuses except for medical and nuke.
