Stationed at NAS Jacksonville?

I'm scheduled to start OCS as an SNA in October, but will be in Jacksonville between now and then. I was wondering (as a civilian prior to OCS) if there was any possibility in getting involved with the NAS...Part time job?...Help as a volunteer?... Just to get familiar with the Navy and an Air Station. Would probably result in a pretty cool summer too!

Is anybody stationed at NAS Jacksonville, or have any answers to this question? Thanks -JT

I understand your desire to (1) get to know more about the Navy and what you are getting into and (2) the rewards of doing volunteer work, but honestly, you are going to get enough Navy exposure while going through the program. I would say get out and enjoy your last "free" summer. Is there anything that you have been "itchin" to do, but just haven't had the time? Might be one of your last large blocks of free time on your hands before Uncle Sam becomes a major part of your life.

Granted, it all boils down to what interests you most, but just thought I would throw my perspective and two cents at you... Whatever you end up doing, have fun and let your batteries recharge prior to the grind of OCS and then flight school...

Go to the Keys or South Beach or Hawaii or Patio Beach and get some sun in the fun with beer and women. I have to agree 100% with John. Relax while you can. You'll be in OCS before you know it.
