Does anyone know how we'll be going to NSI?

Will we be leaving our current command, never to return, and then going straight to our University?

What are we going to be doing when we arrive at our University before we start the next semester?

Should we burn our leave before we go, since we won't really need it at school? Or will we be using it during holidays and such?

Thanks

First I would reccomend that you contact the NROTC unit at the school you're planning to attend. I talked to the LT at UW-Madison and he said that leave still works the same for us. There will be certain times we can use it ie. spring break, holiday break and such. So, I will probably be burning up my leave since I'm only going to be 1 1/2 hours from my home. I can't imagine seeing a reason you would return back to your command after NSI. If you have any household goods they'll likely be put in storage until you get to your final destination. As far as what is going to happen when you arrive probably just your NROTC unit can tell you that.

You should recieve PCS order to your university with TAD orders to NSI enroute. Once you leave your command, that's it. As far as what you will do while waiting for classes to start up, it depends on the unit. For us (Purdue) the new OCs normally get themselves checked in and their home situated, and then odd jobs around the unit. Nothing to stressful. As far as leave, you'll use it during breaks (Christmas, spring, summer, etc...) I ended up not taking leave a lot of times because there wasn't much going on at the unit and it gave me something to do.

Do you think we should spend all our leave. I'd rather get it while I know I need it. I really can't see myself stressed on not having enough leave while I'm there. And like you said. I don't want to lose it. THAT'S PAID VACATION!
