the file on this site that everyone refers to as 'marine study guide' is the same as the ASTB gouge and is also what potential navy pilots/nfo's take? correct?

Absolutely! I am applying to both the Navy and the Marines and my ASTB score will work for both. I studied the gouge off of this site at the recommendation of my OSO and it was fantastic. Good luck!
